My Vintage Obsession

Can I come shopping in your grandma's closet? What if I say please? Pleaseeeee.

The origin story behind my love of Lilli Ann coats, precisely pleated Miss Elliette dresses, and Gloria Vanderbilt jeans isn't very interesting—but the deeper I've fallen down the vintage clothing rabbit hole, the more obsessed I've become. It's the craftsmanship and intention behind each piece that has me choosing clothing older than your mother over something I can get down the block at the mall.

In 2021 and 2022, I resolved to buy only vintage clothing, thinking it would result in lower consumption. But my over-stuffed East Village closet would let you know... well, that's just not the case. Whoops.

For 2023, I've expanded the vintage-only pledge to include "Future Vintage" in my consumer pursuits. That means I'm interested in investing in what I think will be the next era of vintage clothing from contemporary brands like Rachel Comey, Christopher John Rogers, and Molly Goddard. Oh yeah, and I started a newsletter named Retraux, sign up if you're interested here.

Okay, but back to your grandmother's closet. Send me a message, because I was serious about buying it from you.
